Magnolia Bistro, Black-Owned Restaurant in OKC
We visited Magnolia Bistro, a Black-owned Cajun-Creole restaurant in the heart of Automobile Alley in Oklahoma City today for lunch. Check out my review below:
I’ll first start by saying that I very much hope to visit this spot again once the pandemic is over and we’re able to actually sit down and enjoy the ambiance. Normally, we would have ordered fast food and kept it moving, but I really wanted to try a Black-owned restaurant with real food, so we made it work. I didn’t feel comfortable hauling the kids in and sitting down, so we ordered takeout and munched in the car on the ride home.
You guys. Sooo good! Wilbur had the WHODAT Po Boy and the Crab Beignets while I had Cajun Honey Lime Wings, Cajun Fries, and Fried Green Tomatoes. We also split an order of traditional Beignets and a gigantic slice of Banana Pudding Cake. The wings were not as saucy as I was expecting, but they were PACKED with flavor and oh, so juicy. My fries were seasoned to perfection and the fried green tomatoes came with a super creamy sauce that was just spicy enough.
And the desserts. Ya’ll know that’s my favorite part of any meal. The beignets were lightly fried but soft and chewy on the inside and covered in powdered sugar. Definitely French Quarter-approved! I’ve never had Banana Pudding Cake before, but I can tell you Magnolia Bistro knocked it out of the park. It was moist with large bits of banana and we devoured it so quickly that I didn’t stop to get a picture! (Next time, I promise).
The fare at Magnolia Bistro is fresh, well-seasoned and prepared quickly and the service is on point. We’ll definitely be back!
What Black-owned restaurants have you visited lately? Tell me about them below. Bonus points if they’re located in OKC, so Wilbur and I can sample for ourselves!
