Are Knee High Boots Still In Style?

YES, MA’AM THEY ARE! Especially in a chic neutral like tan, chocolate, or black, suede knee-high boots are a classic staple that you can wear most parts of the year. YES, including Spring (maaaaybe Summer, depending on where you live).

Leather boots are great as well, so if you already have a pair, these tips will work for you too. If you’re in the market for a pair of suede knee-high boots, stay with me, because we’re going to get to that in just a second.

How To Take Care Of Your Suede Boots

Marie Claire recommends waterproofing your boots from the beginning and I have to agree. Find a good formula that will help prevent stains and won’t mess with your suede.

You can also use a “suede brush” to gently remove loose, dry dirt and other debris after a day of walking around. Make sure to store your boots in a dust bag or their original box to ward off dust (and in my family’s case, curious, sticky hands). You can also use boot shapers to help keep your boots’ shape.

Finally, be careful about when and where you wear your beloved boots. If the forecast is calling for rain or snow, you might want to save your suede boots for another day. Likewise, if you’re going to be walking around in the dirt and mud all day. At the very least, prepare for an intense cleaning session afterwards!

Can You Wear Suede Knee High Boots In The Spring?

You most certainly can! Pair your suede boots with all your favorite Spring dresses and a lighter weight cardigan or jean jacket. You can also do a cardigan and jeans or even a denim on denim vibe.

If Springtime is still pretty cold where you are, add nude-toned tights. This is also where lighter neutrals come into play. Save the chocolate and black boots for later on in the year, and go for light shades of tan, cream, taupe, even grey!

Best Suede Knee-High Boots For Wide Calves

Quick little review:

These boots are so beautiful and well-constructed! The suede is soft and supple, and they are TRULY wide calf. Though I will say, the actual foot part runs a bit narrow, so I recommend sizing up from your normal size.

If you’re looking for wide-calf suede knee-high boots, keep in mind “wide calf” is a fairly subjective term. When I was shopping for my boots last year, I tried several different brands that claimed theirs were wide-calf, even though they didn’t end up working.

If you can, head in-store to try a few different pairs and figure out what works for you. Big box stores like Macy’s and Dillard’s will give you the best chance at trying several different brands at once.

If you’re shopping online, measure your calves at the widest part and check that measurement against measurements online.
