How To Work These Fall/Winter 2021 Fashion Trends Into Your Every Day Wardrobe
Are you ready to talk Fall/Winter 2021 fashion trends? I love all things style, but can I just say: sometimes it’s tricky working the latest trends into my everyday wardrobe. For example, I remember when OTK boots got big and it took me a minute to figure out how to work those in without looking like I was wearing a costume!
These days, as a homeschool Mama of three with a busy lifestyle, I realize that every trend isn’t for me, but I still want a current and stylish wardrobe as the seasons change. If you can relate, keep reading for a breakdown of the most popular 2021 fashion trends and how you can easily and seamlessly work them into your existing wardrobe.

Fall/Winter 2021 Fashion Trends To Watch
IT’S A SHIRT! WAIT, IT’S A JACKET!
Shackets are, as you might have guessed, half shirt and half jacket. I was in a shop the other day, and the saleslady described this look as “70s, London Fog” and I thought that was the most accurate description of this trend that I’ve ever heard! There are sooo many versions of the shacket out right now from longline to cropped with tons of colors & patterns in between. Whether you want to dip your toe in this 2021 trend or go for full on Boho, 70s vibes, there’s a shacket that will suit you.

WIDE LEG HIGH WAISTED JEANS
The 90s called and they want their jeans back! Just like any other jean, you can dress up wide-leg, high-waist jeans for date night or dress them down for brunch with your besties or a trip to the Pumpkin Patch. And the 2021 version of the 90s trend comes in a variety of washes (sorry, no acid wash, yet!) and different lengths. They’re also more tailored than their predecessors, making them a polished, stylish addition to any wardrobe.

SEASONAL GRAPHIC TEES
Remember when graphic tees were these ratty ol things that you threw on to run errands or sleep in? I still have a few of those, but graphic tees have slowly become a legit wardrobe staple. I especially love seasonal tees like the adorable ones linked below from Good & Well Boutique*. The 2021 tees are made of soft, quality fabrics and can easily go under a smart blazer, with your wide-leg jeans (!) or tucked into a cute suede skirt like this one, from Tiana Bay Boutiques*. Fall colors + a fun phrase = perfection!

90s REVIVAL
You may be surprised to hear about 90s style in a post about 2021 fashion trends, but the 90s are having a total moment these days. Mostly, I think, because we have enough distance from that era, that we’ve forgotten how awful some 90s fashion truly was. Kidding! Sort of…
My point is, this particular trend can be tricky to work into your existing wardrobe without looking like you simply pulled your old clothes out of storage. I would suggest starting small with the wide-leg, high-waist jeans, a cute sweater vest, or even flannel. Remember flannel? Comfy, easy to wear, and very on-trend.

JEANS ARE THE NEW JEANS(;
Remember when TikTok told us skinny jeans were dead and we were ready to curse them out? Just me? Oops! I still have a few pairs of old, faithful skinnies, because, let’s face it. At this point, they’re a classic. BUT. I’m also really loving the newer, looser style jeans. Mom-fit, dad-fit, straight leg. There are so many different versions to pair with booties and your new shacket or a blazer and cute heels. Super versatile!

DOUBLE-DUTY STYLE
As a collective, I don’t think we’re quite ready to let go of last season’s soft, cozy sets and chunky knitwear. The 2021 updates come in on-trend color palettes (lots of color blocking and pattern mixing!) and they’re ever-so-slightly more tailored. READ: they work for lounging at home and venturing out into the world, whenever you’re ready to do so.
I’m also in love with all the cropped sweatshirts I’m seeing! Note: just because it’s cropped, doesn’t mean you HAVE to show skin! Pair with soft leggings or dress up with a great pair of jeans and your favorite sneakers.

MIDI LENGTHS
I looove a good midi-length dress or skirt! It’s the perfect length to show off those new booties, plus I can easily bend down (to pick up either a toy or a child) without having to adjust or worry about showing my goods to the general public. The prairie dresses from earlier this year are back, but you don’t have to go full-on, voluminous prairie if that’s not your thing. There are some beautiful figure-skimming options that are comfortable and flattering and totally current as far as Fall/ Winter 2021 fashion trends go.

Expect soft, comfortable fabrics and muted colors. Plus, I’m seeing a lot of sexy, satin sets which are perfect to mix and match for date night and all of those (socially distanced & COVID safe!) holiday parties coming up!

Pair with tailored bottoms for work or a great pair of leather pants and heels for drinks with your besties. THE COLOR IS LILAC
This beautiful, ethereal, shade is not just for Spring & Summer anymore! I’m seeing tons of cardigans & sweaters in the light purple shade. You can rock this particular 2021 fashion trend with jeans and booties, a soft skirt, or even in a great blazer for work. The possibilities are endless! This is a such a standout color, I would recommend keeping all of your other elements neutral so they don’t compete!

THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL
Am I the only one that kind of misses the big, chunky necklaces from a few years ago? Tell me in the comments if you feel the same! You’ll be glad to know, we’re seeing a bit of a revival of that trend this year. This season’s versions are sleek and chic, but with bold designs that definitely make a statement. Still love your dainty necklaces from last year? Layer a few together for a similar effect!
Add a playful brooch to a neutral blazer for a pop of color, or a pair of bright, fun earrings for an instant outfit upgrade (Ps: fun earrings are my go-to. So easy!)
