What To Wear With Wide Leg Pants In Winter?
Think of wide leg pants as a softer, more comfortable version of your favorite wide leg jeans. That means, most things you would pair with your jeans will also work with your wide leg pants. Personally, I like to play with color, texture, and even volume to keep things interesting.
As far as shoes go, there are tons of options. You can style them with boots or sneakers in Fall and Winter and switch out for sandals once temps warm.
Are Wide Leg Pants Still In Style 2025 Winter?
Yes! There are soo many silhouettes out there when it comes to soft pants, and I encourage you to try them all and see which you like best. In my mind though, wide leg pants have become a classic closet staple.
Whether you’re styling a pair of soft-knit wide leg pants, a sturdy pair of wide leg trousers, or even wide leg leggings, there are sooo many ways to wear them for Winter 2025. And as a Mama who loves casual, wearable style, wide leg pants are especially fun, because they’re incredibly versatile AND comfortable!
A Little Volume On Top
Most style guides will tell you to pair your wide leg pants with a slimmer fitting top to balance out the volume. But as a Mom of 5 and a tummy to show for it (IYKYK!) that piece of advice wasn’t in the cards for me!
Instead, I went with a *slightly* oversized and slightly cropped sweater and just tucked it in a bit to accentuate my waist without putting my stomach on full display!
*PRO TIP: As a plus size gal, I have to be careful with oversized styles, as they tend to add unnecessary bulk. Usually, I size down one or two from my normal size, so I still get the look without feeling overwhelmed or sloppy.
Play With Texture
Soft-knit wide leg pants like the ones pictured below offer a fun opportunity to play around with texture. Here, I added a scuba knit cropped sweatshirt and my go-to overcoat to tie everything together. I love the mix of fabrics to keep things interesting!
Play With Color AND Texture
Exhibit B, your honor: playing with texture AND color!
PRO Tip: If you’re new to experimenting with color, pair with a neutral like these pants. Simplifying things on the bottom allows you to go a little wild up top!
Early Spring Vibes
So, this outfit provides a beautiful pop of color to your Winter wardrobe (which is definitely needed this time of year!) and it can transition to Spring as well.
The obvious choice would have been a nice cream or warm brown on top, so I wanted to switch it up with this pretty minty green.
PRO Tip: When you’re playing with color in a big way, keep your shoes and accessories neutral to make things easier!
Monochromatic & Dramatic(;
YES, the girlies are still doing the monochromatic thing! Keeping everything the same shade of rich camel provides another opportunity to play with texture (that might be the theme of this post!).
The corduroys paired with this soft faux cashmere sweater keep things visually interesting, but *also* cozy and warm.
