Is It Okay To Wear A Black Midi Dress In Summer?

Ummm, YES! Like I mentioned above, black is one of those colors that you can wear for pretty much any season, though there are some things you want to keep in mind when styling your Black dress for Summer. We’ll get into those in a second.

Why a Black midi dress, you ask? That’s just my personal preference! I love a good dress, but I also love being able to move comfortably (to pick up one of my kids, for example) without having to readjust, so midi length dresses work best for me for right now.

If you’re more into minis, don’t worry, these tips will work for you too!

What Can You Wear Over A Midi Dress In Summer?

This is completely up to you. You can brighten things up with a bright Summer cardigan. Or go with a lightweight, breezy kimono. I still have a few from a few seasons ago that I absolutely love. You can also go with a lightweight linen blazer.

How To Make A Black Midi Dress Look “Summery”?

This is wear your accessories will come into play! Look for woven belts, bags, and shoes in natural materials like rattan, cork, or straw. This season’s basket bags would look adorable with your Black midi dress. You can also mix in lighter colors for your jewelry to brighten things up a bit.

You also want to consider fabric choice. Now is not the time for a heavy knit! Look for lightweight, breathable fabrics to keep you comfortable and cool. You can go for a 70s vibe crochet black dress or a pretty, feminine eyelet black dress. I really love the cotton poplin dresses I’ve seen from some of my favorite brands as well.

Don’t forget sleeve length! Go for sleeveless (ie, bandeau, tank, or spaghetti straps) or shorter sleeves. Save the quarter length sleeves for Fall or Winter.
