Skin Tint Vs Regular Foundation…

Years ago, I wore and loved skin tints (back then, we just called them tinted moisturizers!) by Maybelline, Smashbox, and Urban Decay. So, when I ran out of my go-to foundation by IT Cosmetics, I decided to give skin tints a try again.

For me, the biggest difference between a skin tint and regular foundation is the coverage level. Many of the skin tints I’ve tried range in coverage from sheer to medium.

Plus, just in terms of the formulas themselves, they feel much lighter on the skin, which I think make them a great option for Summer time!

One other thing that drew me to skin tints (again): the skin loving ingredients. A lot of the ones on the market are full of ingredients you usually find in skincare like niacinamide and squalane to name a few.

I’ve spent a lot of time building a dry skin skincare routine that works for my skin, and I didn’t want to just cover it up with a thick foundation or risk clogging my pores!

Is Fenty Beauty Eaze Drop Blurring Skin Tint Water Based or Silicone Based?

Fenty Beauty’s blurring skin tint is silicone based! If you already use a silicone-based primer, this will probably be good news to you since the two are more likely to play well together.

But if your skin goes a little wonky with silicone-based products, proceed with caution.

How Do You Use Fenty Beauty Eaze Drop Blurring Skin Tint?

If you’re used to applying your foundation or skin tint with a foundation brush or beauty blender, you can certainly go that route with this formula.

I actually just use my fingers! I apply thin lines of product on my face and blend with my fingers until I’m happy with the results. Takes about 30 seconds! Definitely beginner friendly!

Fenty Beauty Eaze Drop Blurring Skin Tint: My Honest Review

So, I actually tried four other skin tints along with Fenty Beauty’s. Watch my thoughts on those above! I tested each for about 12 hours and reviewed each formula at the end of the day.

In the end I purchased a full-size bottle of the Fenty Beauty skin tint and here’s why:

It applies like your favorite facial lotion…

I love makeup as much as the next girl, but I’m not a fan of makeup feeling like… well, like makeup! Sticky, tacky, odd smell. Just feels yuck! I experienced NONE OF THAT with the Fenty Beauty formula!

It applies beautifully and feels smooth and creamy on my skin. And as a dry skin girly, I appreciated that while it won’t replace my daytime face cream, it definitely adds extra hydration to the mix.

It has amazing staying power…

If the last time you wore a skin tint (or tinted moisturizer) was in 2012, you’ll be delighted to know the more recent formulas have much better longevity.

This particular formula was very much still in place when paired with my Supergoop sunscreen.

I did experience a few issues with my Live Tinted. I’m not sure if it’s because that one’s water-based or because it’s a thicker formula in general.

I found my shade easily…

This was especially helpful since I color-matched myself! Color-matching on your own can definitely be tricky, but I had no issues finding my shade (19, by the way) in the Eaze Drop Blurring Skin Tint.

On the other hand, the main complaint I’ve heard about this formula is that it can turn out too warm on most folks. Keep that in mind, especially if you’re more cool-toned.

My Shade Matching Technique

I used Sephora.com’s Findation plugin to get an idea of what my Eaze Drop shade might be based on my IT Cosmetics shade.

I took that info to the store with me and compared three swatches: the shade Findation recommended, one darker than that shade, and one lighter than that shade.

Blended them all out and went with the one that disappeared into my skin!

Speaking of shade range…

The first couple of tinted moisturizers I used to wear would come in about four or five shades, *maybe* six. Fenty Beauty’s skin tint comes in an impressive 25 shades ranging from cool to neutral to warm.

The ‘blurring effect” is the absolute truth…

One of my favorite features with the Fenty Beauty skin tint was, by far, the blurring technology.

I was initially looking at pairing a blurring primer with a different skin tint, so I was definitely glad to be able to save a few coins by going with a formula that blurred on its own.

It smoothed out all my imperfections, evened out any discoloration (especially on my cheeks and under my eyes). And at the end of the day? No cakieness!

The coverage was *just right*

All that and the coverage was still very natural!

I had several people in real life ask me what skincare regimen I was doing because my skin looked so good, and it was just the Eaze Drop Blurring Skin Tint!

If you’re going for a natural, “clean girl” vibe, this formula is definitely for you!

One thing I *didn’t like*

Remember I mentioned staying power a few scrolls up? Unfortunately, that means the blurring skin tint is a bit stubborn when it comes to washing it off at the end of the day.

I had gotten used to easily removing my makeup with a cleansing balm, but now, I have to follow it up with a gentle foaming face wash.

I’m not wild about the extra step in my nighttime skincare routine, but I figured I could deal with it for all the other benefits!

How Much Does The Fenty Beauty Eaze Drop Blurring Skin Tint Cost? And, Where Can I Get It?

I ended up grabbing mine from Ulta (gotta earn those Ultamate rewards!) but the Fenty Beauty skin tint is available directly on Fenty Beauty’s website, as well as online and in stores at Sephora.

At the time of publishing this blog post, it retails for $38 for a 1.08 oz bottle.

I bought my full size about two months ago and have used it a few times a week since. There’s still tons left in the bottle, but I’ll come back and let you know how long it lasts me!
