Black Owned Cleaning Products: Why “All-Natural”?

With five kids (including a set of 2 year old twins!) my husband I are constantly wiping or mopping up messes. And don’t even get me started on our dog, Panda. She’s about 65 lbs of pure fluff (thank God she doesn’t shed) but imagine that running around tracking “outside dirt” through the house with every trot! It’s a lot of work, for sure.

If you’re a long-time reader of this blog, you’ll know that I am a huge fan of double-duty products! So, a Black owned cleaning product company with all-natural, plant-based ingredients that won’t harm Panda or the kids AND that freshens your home sounds pretty good to me!

It sounded pretty good to owner, Ymani Efungale, as well. She started mixing her own cleaning products after an accident where her then two-year old son accidentally ingested a store-bought all-natural cleaner that she was using and immediately had an asthma attack.

Ten years after she started mixing her own solutions, a friend asked her about making a version that smelled of Sandalwood, and the concept for Good Vibes All Purpose Cleaner was born.

Today, Good Vibes All Purpose Cleaner carried concentrated formulas in eleven beautiful scents, including their bestsellers, Nag Champa (a personal favorite of mine) and Frankincense & Myrrh.

How Does It Work?

In her video above, Efungale says her mission for Good Vibes is to help “…all beings to be in harmony with themselves, with each other, with the planet, and with the universe.” and that vision definitely shines through. After all, her products are designed to exist harmoniously in your home with you, your children, and your pets.

Have you ever sprayed a cleaner and immediately had to clear the room because either the scent or the chemicals themselves were too strong? You’ll be glad to read that you don’t have to worry about that with Efungale’s formula!

So, how does it work? Good Vibes All-Purpose Cleaner is highly concentrated, plant-based formula that you add to water to use. This means you can use varying amounts, depending on what area you’re cleaning. Mopping the floors? Good Vibes recommends adding 1/2 of your favorite bottle to 1 gallon of hot water. Cleaning out your tub and sink? Try combining with baking soda for a deep clean.

Remember I talked about double-duty a minute ago? Well, you can use Good Vibes cleaners on most surfaces, including granite, marble, hardwood, and even carpet. It also works as a laundry detergent that’s safe for HE machines! With today’s prices being what they are, it’s good to know we can save a few bucks with so many uses for one cleaning product!

Did I mention there’s an unscented version too? Perfect if you or any of your family are sensitive to scents. If not, I recommend the Nag Champa! You can also go with their starter pack, which includes 2 oz bottles of each scent so can try a few different ones before you commit to a full-size bottle.

Ps. Don’t forget to check out their blog, The Peaceful Home, for all things cleaning, decluttering, and organizing!
