In this week’s blog post, I’m sharing my favorite low effort, high impact outfits to grab when you need to get dressed FAST.

Ideally, you’d want to spend more than 5 mins on your wardrobe, but life doesn’t always work out that way! So, I’m also sharing my tried & true tips to keep your wardrobe as organized and clutter-free to you can get to what you need quickly and move on with your day.

5 Tips To Get Dressed Fast

Embrace Outfit Formulas

Think blazer + solid tee + jeans + sandals. Or cardigan + solid tee + jeans + sneakers. Check out Pinterest, this blog, or your favorite style channel on Youtube and take note of the outfit formulas that speak to you the most.

Keep a list of formulas you can recreate easily and quickly to refer to on those mornings when you’re running beyond late.

Invest In Basics

Notice any similarities between the two outfit formulas I mentioned above? They both start with a basic tee and jeans!

If your wardrobe is low on simple, comfy basics, it’s time to invest in a few. They don’t have to be boring, though.

What colors, necklines, and silhouettes speak to you? When budget and time allow, try adding a few basics to build outfits around and watch how they make getting dressed so much faster and easier.

Pre-Plan Your Outfits

I know, I can almost hear you going “If I had time to pre-plan my outfits, I wouldn’t be reading this post!” But I’m not talking about planning your outfits every day of the week (unless you want to, that is).

Instead, try creating 2-3 go-to outfits that will work for most casual occasions like meeting friends for lunch, your kids’ school events, etc.

Set those aside so you can grab the next time you’re out of ideas.

Simplify Your Accessories

We all know a beautiful earring, a stack of pretty bracelets, and a great belt can help your outfit feel finished and intentional.

But we don’t always have time to select the perfect pair of earrings and *The Belt* to go with each outfit.

Think about your favorite gold hoops, a “matches everything” neutral belt, a comfy pair of Summer sandals.

These are your go-to accessories to grab when you need to get ready quickly and don’t have time to sort through your collection.

No go-to accessories? Here’s what I would start with.

  1. Neutral belt
  2. Simple pair of earrings
  3. Minimalist necklace (less likely to clash with your outfit)
  4. Go-to leather bag
  5. Comfy pair of shoes (sandals in the Summer, boots in the Winter, sneakers year-round)

Invest In a Steamer

For those of us that don’t have a monthly dry-cleaning budget (one of the only times I miss being a real estate agent, hah!), getting rid of wrinkles is a thing.

And when you’re trying to get dressed and out the door quickly, nothing slows you down like having to stop and iron.

I love this small, but mighty steamer to quickly knock out wrinkles in the time it takes to brew a cup of coffee.

Ideally, you would want to steam (or iron, if you prefer that method) your clothing regularly so it’s wrinkle-free whenever you need to grab it.

That doesn’t always happen in my world, because kids(; So, I appreciate efficiency and ease of a great steamer.

And finally…

Organize Your Closet

Get rid of or store anything that doesn’t fit, is out of season, or no longer sparks joy (yes, I’m on my Marie Kondo tip these days). Once you’ve done that, organize your closet in a way that makes sense to you. Some organization ideas:

  1. By clothing type and clothing color within that section (this is how my closet is organized. Dresses with dresses, tops with tops, etc. with like colors grouped together)
  2. Put the clothes you love and wear most often towards the front so you can grab them quickly
  3. Organize by order of getting dressed; bottoms first, than tops, then outer layers
