Summer Brunch Plans? 10 Cute Plus Size Outfit Ideas To Wear & Love!
If you’re looking for cute (and plus size friendly!) Summer brunch outfit ideas to recreate at home, you’ve come to the right place!
Grabbing brunch *just* might be one of my favorite ways to spend a few hours on a weekend morning. Oh, and don’t let it be the Summertime! That means warm enough temps to enjoy brunch on the patio plus a refreshing, icy cold Moscow Mule to kick things up a notch!
But I digress(: Keep reading to get inspired! If you happen to see something you can’t live without, tap here to Shop This Post!

What To Wear For Summer Brunch?
Depends on the venue and the occasion. If the restaurant is a more upscale spot or it’s for a friend’s birthday, you might want to dress up a bit.
If you’re unsure of the vibes at a particular restaurant, I like to check out their Instagram. There are always tons of pics of patrons and you can get an idea of how exactly to dress.
Is It Okay To Wear Jeans To Brunch?
I mean, I do! Again, this depends on the venue and the occasion. If you’re doing a brunch event, you can also reach out to the host, especially if it’s someone you don’t know very well, to see what the recommended attire is. But, brunch, in general, is not always automatically a dressy affair.
What To Wear Dressy Casual?
Once you start asking around (or if there’s an official invitation with a note on dress code) you might hear this term. You might also see the term, “smart casual”.
This just basically means a step above casual. So instead of jeans and tee, maybe jeans and a cute top under a blazer. A cute sandal or wedge with your dress instead of sneakers.
Still confused? That’s why I’m here! Keep scrolling for cute, plus size friendly dressy casual (and smart casual) outfit ideas.
Plus Size Brunch Outfits To Recreate This Summer
Dressed To Impress
I looove a good sundress and Summer is definitely peak sundress season!
This one’s 100% cotton, so it’s breathable and comfortable enough for the Summer heat. Plus, the fit and flare silhouette is universally flattering, and *especially* flattering for plus size babes.
I styled it here with my favorite heeled sandals (I would also add a straw bag), but this dress would look equally cute with your favorite pair of white sneakers.

For Cooler Summer Mornings
For me, a soft denim top like this one is a wardrobe essential all year long. Try layering one under your favorite sundress for Summer brunch on mornings when you need a little something on your arms.
Bonus: this top works beautifully as a chic, but laidback swimsuit coverup as well!

Simple & Chic
Can’t lie, I love a tank & jeans combo! These wide leg cargo jeans came out last season as part of American Eagle’s lightweight “dreamy drape” collection of denim.
This particular pair is sold out (though you might still be able to find in store!) but I found similar pairs plus new dreamy drape styles to try this season in the Shop This Post section below.
One way to elevate a simple outfit like this? Being intentional with your accessories and footwear. Here, I love the way the black elements of my outfit pop against the cool pink of the top.
Need to dress it up a bit? Add a linen blazer!

A Denim Alternative
Too hot for jeans already? Try a crisp pair of tailored linen shorts instead! They’re the perfect way to show a little skin while feeling polished and chic.
You can style them however you would style your favorite denim shorts, but they’re a bit more elevated!

Colorful Athleisure
When Summer brunch is a more casual affair, I love a colorful, comfy athleisure look.
Show off your personality with fun colors (or patterns!) while maintaining comfort during brunch AND afterwards when you have to run the rest of your daily errands.

Casual & Cute
Speaking of athleisure… I don’t know about you, but YES, I’m still doing biker shorts this season!
I’m honestly not a huge fan of denim shorts just because it’s hard to find plus size versions that fit the way I want them to.
So, I usually end up in either fully elevated linen shorts (scroll back up a bit if you missed it!) or relaxed biker shorts. I love to pair them with an oversized denim top for a little extra coverage.

Florals For Summer… Groundbreaking!
It’s not exactly newsworthy, but yes, I love a floral print for any Summer occasion, including brunch! And I especially love the floral wide leg pants we’ve seen from several retailers all Spring and Summer.
If you have wider hips and thicker thighs (like me!) wide leg pants tend to balance out and flatter your proportions. And they’re just so comfy!

Linen For The Win
If you’re someone who gets cold easily, even during the warmer months (same, girl!) a smart linen blazer like this one adds an extra layer against aggressive ACs but still feels comfortable outdoors as well.

The Color of The Moment
From tops and dresses to colorful accessories and footwear, green is definitely having a moment this season.
One of my favorite ways to play with trending shades is to go ALL IN with a particular shade rather than starting small. The easiest way to do that? A dress, of course!
Style it casually with your favorite sneakers or dress it up a bit with a great pair of heels and a colorful bag. Just depends on the vibe you’re going for!

Jeans & A Cute Top
It’s a popular formula for a reason! I love a great pair of wide leg jeans paired with a cute, cropped top. This one adds a little bit of volume, but I think the abbreviated length keeps it from overpowering the jeans.
And the jeans themselves are non-stretch, but definitely tummy friendly. They smooth everything out without feeling like you’re wearing a straitjacket around your middle!

More Florals, Because Why The Heck Not?
You might notice that the top from the outfit right above this one and the pants from this outfit are a set!
And, THIS is why I love two-piece sets as a Summer essential. You essentially get three outfits in one which both I and my pocket appreciate.
I wear and love both pieces together, but if you’re a little iffy on an allover floral print, here are two examples of how to get some mileage out of this set without feeling overwhelmed.
**I also have a blog post on styling bold prints which you might want to check out as well!

Not Quite a Midi, Not Quite a Maxi
I’m loving the new length skirts coming out this season. Not quite long enough to be considered maxis, but they’re definitely longer than the midi skirts we’ve seen over the years.
If you’ve shied away from midi-length skirts in the past because you felt they cut you off at the ankles, this length is definitely for you.
